Wedding Etiquette Questions: Ask the Etiquist
Who do I invited to my second wedding?
Q. I'm getting married for the second time. Is it proper
to invite family members that have been invited to your first wedding?
A. Traditionally, only immediate family and close friends
are invited to the ceremony. If the bride and / or groom are widowed,
it is considered respectful to keep the celebration small. If divorced,
it's to minimize the fact that a prior public oath of commitment didn't
come to pass ("til death do you part").
